Portrait Photography
Relaxed sessions that actually look like you.
You don't have to like cameras. That's my job.
You're not “not photogenic.” You just haven't had someone who knows what they're doing point a camera at you in the right light. I shoot portraits at Fernwood Hills in Komoka — forty private acres of forest, natural light, and zero pressure. About an hour. You talk, I shoot, and the photos end up looking like you on a really good day.
There's no posing, no “say cheese,” no awkward hand placement instructions. I photograph people as they actually are — laughing, thinking, moving, being still. Most people loosen up within the first fifteen minutes, and that's when the real photos start happening.
Edited images delivered in a private online gallery, usually within two weeks. Every image is individually edited.

Where portrait sessions happen.
Fernwood Hills is a private 40-acre property in Komoka, Ontario — about fifteen minutes west of London. A restored century farmhouse, a modern studio loft, forest trails, and open meadows. No crowds, no public parks, no strangers walking through your photos.
Golden hour sessions are the most popular — that last hour before sunset when the light goes soft and warm. But overcast days are beautiful too. We'll find whatever light is working and use it.
Off-site sessions are available if you have a location that means something to you. Your home, a favourite trail, downtown London — we'll figure out what makes sense.
Who books portrait sessions.
Individuals, families, creatives — anyone who wants photos that don't look like everyone else's. Maybe you need updated headshots. Maybe you want something for yourself that isn't a phone selfie. Maybe someone told you to get photos done and you've been putting it off for two years. This is the easy version.
People drive from London, St. Thomas, Strathroy, Woodstock, and across Southwestern Ontario. Some come for the property, some come because they want a portrait photographer who doesn't make them pose. Both are good reasons.
What to wear.
Wear something that feels like you. Solid colours and neutral tones photograph well at Fernwood Hills, but there are no rules. Layers are great for variety — a jacket, a scarf, rolled sleeves. Avoid logos and busy patterns.
If you're not sure, send me a photo of a few options when you book and I'll help you narrow it down. It takes thirty seconds and saves the “what do I wear” spiral.
